What is Texas TreeVentures?

  • Texas TreeVentures is a challenge by choice aerial adventure course located in The Woodlands, Texas on the campus of the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park. The course is directly adjacent to the expansive 1,800 acres of the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, which is home to abundant wildlife, several miles of wooded trails, and Spring Creek. The Texas TreeVentures course is a series of physical challenges and adventure-based elements designed for youth and adults (age and weight restrictions apply). The three-level aerial adventure course tests you in a fun environment with 69 challenging elements and is the perfect place to take your family and friends as well as push yourself to new heights!

    Texas TreeVentures is owned and operated by The Woodlands Township, a political subdivision of the State of Texas. The course is built to the standards of the ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology) specifications, among the most stringent ropes course safety standards in the world. Every element of the Park is inspected daily and is re-certified to ACCT specifications every year. The Township’s Parks and Recreation Department operates the adventure course with ACCT trained staff.

  • Texas TreeVentures reservation schedule is based on the time of year and sunset calendars. The last reservation allowed on the course is three hours prior to sunset. Check out the website for open slots. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance. Location and Parking

  • Texas TreeVentures is located at 6464 Creekside Forest Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77389, behind The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park. Follow signage to reach your awaited adventure.

  • Chevron down Is parking free?
  • Yes! Parking is free and is located at The Rob Fleming Recreation Center. Additional parking is available nearby at The Aquatic Center at Rob Fleming Park. Texas TreeVentures and The Woodlands Township are not liable for any valuables left in your car.

Participation Requirments

  • Chevron down Are there age, height, or weight restrictions?
  • Yes, Texas TreeVentures has participant restrictions for age, height, weight, youth supervision, and harness fit. Participants must meet ALL requirements in order to enter the course. These requirements are based on the course structure and safety systems. Staff cannot and will not allow anyone to access the course if they don’t meet these restrictions.

    Age: Must be at least 6 years old. Anyone under the age of 15 must adhere to Youth Supervision Requirements.

    Height: To traverse the course independently, participants must have a minimum reach of 70″ while standing flat-footed, regardless of age. Participants that do not meet those height requirements will require an Adult Monitor to make transfers.

    Weight: Minimum 44 lbs; Maximum 275 lbs. All participants must be weighed.

    Youth Supervision Requirements:

    • To traverse the course independently, participants must have a minimum reach of 70″ while standing flat-footed, regardless of age. Participants that do not meet those height requirements will require an Adult Monitor to make transfers.
    • All Adult Monitors must purchase a ticket.
    • Adult Monitors must stay within one (1) element of youth participant.
    • Youth Supervision Requirements apply to daycares and birthday parties as well. Texas TreeVentures staff will not be responsible for directly supervising children on the course
  • Chevron down What if the harness doesn't fit me?
  • There is a possibility that a participant may meet all requirements, but the harness does not fit as required to traverse the course. Harnesses and helmets must fit and meet manufacturer requirements to allow a guest to enter the course. If a harnesses or helmet is too loose or doesn’t allow the required fit even after adjusted, the participant will not be allowed on the course.

  • Chevron down Are there physical restrictions?
  • Health and medical conditions that should restrict participation/access to the course include, but are not limited to: pregnancy, spinal injury or weak spine, or heart condition. Participants should consult a physician prior to participating in this activity for any additional conditions that may limit or impair use of the course and execution of one’s responsibility as an operator or be exacerbated by this activity.

  • Yes, all the requirements are listed below.

    • Age: Must be at least 6 years old. Anyone under the age of 15 must adhere to Youth Supervision Requirements.
    • Height: To traverse the course independently, participants must have a minimum reach of 70″ while standing flat-footed, regardless of age. Participants that do not meet those height requirements will require an Adult Monitor to make transfers.
    • Weight: Minimum 44 lbs; Maximum 275 lbs. All participants must be weighed.
    • All participants must sign liability waiver before entering the course.
    • Must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    • Long hair must be pulled back and secured
      Remove all loose jewelry.
    • Must be dressed appropriately (close-toed and close-heeled shoes; clothing must provide appropriate coverage/protection for use with full-body harness).
    • Empty pockets before entering the course.
    • No phones allowed on the course.
    • No candy, gum, or other choking hazards permitted.
    • Must fit appropriately into harness and helmet.
    • Health and medical condition restrictions include but are not limited to pregnancy, spinal injury or weak spine, and heart conditions.

    Texas TreeVentures staff reserves the right to deny course access to anyone for any reasonable cause at any time.

    Failure to comply with course rules or improper use of equipment may result in immediate expulsion

  • Chevron down Does everyone in my party have to fill out a waiver?
  • Yes! Liability Waivers are required by each participant who will be accessing the course. Participants under 18 years old must have a Liability Waiver signed by a legal parent or guardian. Texas TreeVentures encourages participants to fill out waivers (linked on your receipt) prior to checking-in.

Getting Prepared & Course Rules

  • Chevron down Before you arrive
    • All participants must sign a Liability Waiver prior to entering the course. Children under 18 are required to have the Liability Waiver signed by their legal parent or guardian.
    • Review and understand Participant and Youth Supervision Requirements.
    • Must be dressed appropriately (close-toed and close-heeled shoes; clothing must provide appropriate coverage/protection for use with full-body harness; remove loose jewelry).
    • Pockets must be empty including keys, phones, and wallets. Please leave valuable items at home. There will be a designated basket for participants to place their phones and keys. Staff are not liable for personal items. Cell phones are not permitted on the course.
    • Long hair must be pulled back and secured.
    • Please use the restrooms before checking-in to ensure you are ready to start at your appropriate time.
  • Chevron down When you arrive
    • Check in at the front desk when you arrive at the course.
    • All participants must sign a Liability Waiver prior to entering the course. Children under 18 are required to have the Liability Waiver signed by their legal parent or guardian.
    • All participants will be weighed, and checked for a 70”vertical reach.
    • Please use the restrooms before checking-in to ensure you are ready to start at your appropriate time.
    • Pockets must be empty including keys, phones, and wallets. Please leave valuable items at home. There will be a designated basket for participants to place their phones and keys. Staff are not liable for personal items. Cell phones are not permitted on the course.
    • All participants will go through a 30-45 minute Gear Up and Ground School instructional session before accessing the course.
    • Absolutely no vaping, smoking, drugs or alcohol are allowed at Texas TreeVentures.
    • Anyone observed or suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the course immediately and will not be eligible for refunds.
    • Texas TreeVentures staff reserves the right to deny course access to anyone for any reasonable cause at any time.
    • Spectators must stay in designated areas and are not allowed on or underneath the course at any time. There are several areas around the perimeter of the course for spectators to take pictures and clearly watch friends or family challenge themselves.
  • Chevron down What time should I arrive?
  • We recommend participants plan to arrive 15-20 minutes earlier than the reservation time. This will ensure you have enough time to find the course, check-in, complete any necessary paperwork and use the restrooms before your start time. Late or No-Show Policies apply, so be sure to give yourself enough time!

  • Chevron down Is there a time limit to complete the course?
  • The course is designed to be “challenge by choice.” Every participant is given three (3) hours for their reservation to experience the course at their own pace and comfort level. The Gear Up process and Ground School instructions will be part of your three (3) hour reservation slot.

  • Chevron down Which elements am I allowed to climb?
  • The course is designed to be “challenge by choice.” Participants can choose the elements that they are comfortable traversing. The difficulty depends on each person’s abilities and comfort level; however, the course becomes more physically challenging moving higher in elevation. To progress to the next level, participants must complete the preceding level.

  • Chevron down Will all the levels and elements be open on my adventure?
  • Depending on weather, maintenance and/ or staffing requirements, certain elements or levels may be closed or staggered for use. Upon check-in, course staff will notify participants if any elements or levels are closed at that time.

Staff Assistance

  • Chevron down Can Texas TreeVentures staff help me through the course?
  • Texas TreeVentures staff will be present on the course to assist and encourage participants, however, remember the course is a self-guided adventure. Training will be given through the Gear Up and Ground School instructions to prepare participants for time on the course. Course staff will be present on the course, and at the launch house.

    If participants need any assistance throughout their time at Texas TreeVentures, notify course staff in a NON-blue helmet and they will be happy to help.

Booking Your Adventure

  • Chevron down Are reservations required?
  • Reservations are not required but are strongly encouraged. Due to staffing and course maximums and other reservations, walk-ups cannot be guaranteed a slot on the course that day. We suggest making a reservation as soon as you’ve made plans — at least two to three days in advance. The website allows you to make reservations up until the day of your event, if space is available. Reservation slots are open months in advance for you to plan early.
  • Chevron down Will I need to sign a waiver?
  • Yes! Liability Waivers are required by each participant who will be accessing the course. Participants under 18 years old must have a Liability Waiver signed by a legal parent or guardian. Ticket Prices

  • Chevron down General Admission
  • General Admission prices for ages 13 and older is $40, and $35 for children ages 12 and under. Each reservation slot is a maximum of is three (3) hours. The Gear Up process and Ground School instructions are included in the three (3) hour ticket price.

  • Chevron down Do you offer group rates?
  • Groups must consist of a minimum of 12 participants.  Please call at 281-210-2048 or email at [email protected] with any questions concerning group rate eligibility! Total fees for the group is due at time of purchase to qualify and reservations are required in advance.

  • Chevron down Do you offer corporate or team building events?
  • Yes! Come to Texas TreeVentures for your next special event or corporate outing! Fill out this form and staff will be in contact to discuss your options!

Weather Impacts

  • Chevron down High Winds
  • Sustained winds (wind speed determined by averaging observed values over a two-minute period) of 20 mph or greater would warrant course closure. Texas TreeVentures would contact your party as soon as possible if this is the case for your reservation. Participants on the course will be evacuated if sustained winds are present.

  • Chevron down Thunder & Lightning
  • Texas TreeVentures cannot have anyone on the course if thunder and lightning is within a 10-mile radius. The course will be evacuated immediately if thunder is heard, lightening is visible, or if a storm is within a 10-mile radius. If small storm systems are moving through the area we try to stay open and ask participants to take a break while the storm passes. The course will remain closed for 30 minutes from the last thunder or lightning occurrence.

  • Texas TreeVentures can still be fun while it is raining. However, the course may close for severe weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds, ice, snow, or extreme temperatures. If small storm systems are moving through the area we try to stay open and ask participants to take a break while the storm passes.

  • Texas TreeVentures utilizes www.noaa.gov (zip code – 77389) to determine weather related cancellations. Texas TreeVentures will notify participants in the event of a cancellation as soon as possible when weather may impact the safety and operations of the course.

Cancellations & No-Shows

  • Chevron down What is your cancellation policy?
  • Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be made by calling (281) 210-2048 or emailing [email protected]. Participants are responsible for ensuring that Texas TreeVentures receives the request.

    Participants canceling 10 days or more prior to the reserved booking date will have the option of rescheduling the booking, receiving a gift certificate allowing them to reschedule at a later date (within 1 year of purchase), or a full monetary refund.

    Participants canceling less than 10 days prior to the reserved booking date but prior to 48 hours of the reservation will have the option of rescheduling the booking or receiving a gift certificate allowing them to reschedule at a later date (within 1 year of purchase), but will not be eligible for a monetary refund.

  • Chevron down What is the No-Show policy?
  • No-shows are not eligible for monetary refund, credit, gift certificate, rescheduling of the event, or any other reimbursement. The entire reservation cost will be forfeited. The No-Show Policy is applicable to all participants, including individual participants within a group reservation. Reservations are considered a no-show 10 minutes past a reservation slot.

  • Chevron down Can I reschedule my reservation time and date?
  • Rescheduling requests must be made by calling 281-210-2048 or emailing [email protected]. Participants are responsible for ensuring that Texas TreeVentures receives the request. Texas TreeVentures allows rescheduling or an option for a gift certificate (valid for a year from issue date) up to 48 hours prior to your reservation. No monetary refunds will be issued unless requested at least 10 days prior to your reservation date.

  • Chevron down Cancelations on behalf of Texas TreeVentures
  • In the event Texas TreeVentures needs to close the course, participants will have the option to reschedule the reservation, receive a gift certificate to schedule at a later date, or a full monetary refund.

  • Chevron down What if weather conditions or other factors cut my adventure short?
  • In the event the course needs to close during your adventure prior to two (2) hours after your session begins, participants will have the ability yo reschedule for a full adventure later or receive a gift certificate to schedule at a later date (valid for a year from issue date). Under these circumstances, no monetary refunds will be issued.

  • Chevron down What if I am late to my reservation?
  • If you or your group are 5-10 minutes late to the reservation, Texas TreeVentures will work to get you and/or your group on the course and in the next ground school, however, you will still be limited to the three (3) hour session of your original reservation.

    If you and/ or your group are 10 minutes late or later for the reservation, the booking is considered a no-show and subject to the No-Show Policy. We must respect the other reservations for the day.

    We recommend that you plan on arriving 15 -20 minutes earlier than you reserved session. This will ensure you have enough time to find the course, sign in, complete any paperwork that is needed, and use the restrooms before your start time. Late or No-Show policies apply, so be sure to give yourself enough time!

Spectators

  • Chevron down Where can family and friends watch?
  • There are several areas around the perimeter of the course for spectators to take pictures and clearly watch friends or family challenge themselves! Spectators must stay in designated areas and are not allowed on or underneath the course at any time.

What to wear

  • Chevron down What should I wear and bring with me?
  • Wear clothing that fits you well and does not allow anything to hang loose or get tangled in cables. Remember, people may be below you on other elements. Harnesses tend to ride up when fitted properly, so wearing longer shorts/pants may be more comfortable. Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required. Sneakers or hiking boots are recommended. Long hair must be pulled back and secured. Dangling jewelry must be removed prior to your harness fitting. Please keep your pockets empty while on the course. Phones are not allowed on the course.

Equipment

  • Chevron down What equipment will I be wearing?
  • Each participant must wear a Texas TreeVentures issued harness, helmet, and Edelrid Smart Belay system to traverse the course. Outside equipment is not permitted on the course.

  • Chevron down Do I have to wear gloves?
  • Gloves are not required; however, they do provide padding to help maneuver the course. Communal gloves are available for use, and gloves are also available for purchase. You are also welcome to bring and wear your own gloves.

  • Chevron down Can I use my own harness or helmet?
  • No. The only piece of equipment that you can provide are gloves. Participants must wear a Texas TreeVentures issued harness, helmet and Elderid Smart Belay system.

  • Chevron down What is an Edelrid Smart Belay?
  • The Edelrid Smart Belay (ESB) is the safety system that will assist you through the elements. These are designed to permit only one gate, or “claw,’ on one of the tethers to be in the open/unlocked position at any given time. This allows participants to transition from one element to another while maintaining a constant connection to the belay system throughout your adventure. A detailed description and practice time will be demonstrated to all participants in the 30-45 minute Gear Up and Ground School instruction period prior to accessing the course.

Outdoor Amenities

  • Chevron down Are there restrooms and changing facilities?
  • There are restrooms on the campus of the park. Plan accordingly and make sure you make time prior to your reservation to use the restroom.

  • Chevron down Is there a storage facility where I can store my items?
  • Small items for your group, such as keys or water bottles, can be stored with staff during your reservation, but we recommend leaving larger valuable items at home or safely locked out of sight in your car. Staff is not liable for personal property.

  • Chevron down Is there a picnic shelter nearby?
  • Yes, there is a shelter nearby. Permits and reservations take priority; however, if it is not reserved, it is available on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Chevron down Can I rent or use the outdoor treehouses?
  • The treehouses are available for group and birthday party rentals. Please call (281) 210-2048 to book or check availability. If there are no rentals for the day, we open the boardwalk.

  • Chevron down What other amenities are available at the park?
  • The campus also includes a playground, amphitheater, archery range, open field, tipi village and The Recreation Center.at Rob Fleming Park.

Refreshments

  • Chevron down What refreshments are available for purchase?
  • Water, Gatorade, and various other beverage choices are available for purchase at the front desk. Once on the course, you can easily descend to the ground level and stop by the main deck area for a break and make a purchase before heading back out onto the course.

  • Chevron down Are coolers allowed?
  • Absolutely! The only items you may not bring are glass bottles and alcohol of any kind. Coolers may be checked by course staff at the check-in desk. Due to space limitations, coolers cannot be left on the main deck.
